Our lives sometimes careen at breakneck speed. Meetings. Travel. Phone calls. Texts. Pick up and drop off the kids. Re-balance our investment portfolio. Pick up the birthday gift, dry cleaning, wine for the dinner party, groceries, etc. Plan for and fit in workouts, family time, holidays, dentist appointments and get-togethers with friends. We are fortunate to have full and active lives.

Often when I am on the streets of large urban centers, I observe the furrowed brows and serious countenances of the people hustling along the streets.  The actions of our hours and our days become our lives. We know this logically, but it can be easy to miss this in the midst of a busy Monday morning.

At a recent event, attendees were asked to consider what they would like their final words to be, as they reflect on their lives. My favourite was, “Damn – that was fun!” That may be my new motto.
