It took me a few minutes this morning to locate my laptop,
Nope, not in the bedroom. Of course not in the office as the desktop is there.
Not in the kitchen or family room.
Then I remembered – that’s right, in the sunny living room where I had been working when a friend arrived yesterday.
Descending the stairs to retrieve it I had a flashback to a hut in Peru. Peter and had I spent the night there, at a chilly oxygen-thin altitude, while touring and before hiking Machu Picchu.. I recall being perched on a bed in the small mud structure as the wife and mother prepared the evening meal. From where I sat I could almost reach all 4 walls; the cooking and heating fire, the beds, the shelving of pottery and utensils all so close by. And today as I reached the bottom of the stairs I sent out a small thanks to she and her family for hosting us in their home and was reminded again of the abundance I never want to take for granted and the small distance that separates us from others who share this beautiful planet with us.
