Do you realize how powerful you are? You can help to change the world!
If you were a girl in Malawi Africa, you would not attend school on the days that you menstruated — simply because you do not have access to menstrual supplies. As a result of missing so many days a year, you would not complete secondary school. Under-educated and personally disempowered, you would likely be married off at 12 years old and pregnant shortly thereafter.
Educated girls uplift the world. They marry later, have fewer children, earn 25% more and become leaders in their communities — and break the cycle of poverty. And in Malawi, empowerment is as simple as THIS: provide girls with menstrual supplies so they can attend class 5 days a week. It’s THAT easy to foster major social change. $10 bucks will keep a girl in school.
I’m supporting one of my favourite business women, Danielle LaPorte by spreading the word. LunaPads is taking the leftover fabrics of Wal-Mart sundresses and Reebok track pants to create a re-usable collection of washable cloth menstrual pads + panties. We want to get kits to 10,000 Malawian girls. Each kit costs $10 bucks. (Using scrap fabric is reducing the cost by $18!)
For $10 you help to liberate a girl to graduate and make empowered choices in her life.
Can you help keep a girl in the classroom? 1 girl? 5 girls? More girls?
I’ve donated $500 to send 50 kits to 50 girls. I believe at least 1 girl will learn enough in school to break free and do more good in the world. And we’re keeping hundreds of pounds of fabric out of landfills!
What if we support 10,000 more girls in Malawi to go to school every day? They will learn about the world and expand their options in life. And imagine how much waste fabric we will re-distribute from landfills? Please these girls achieve their dreams. At the same time you will be helping me achieve my dream. $10 or more from you can make it happen!
