One of the main contributors to my move away from a corporate lifestyle to what I’m doing today was that I was asked for assistance.
At first, a few people I knew, who recognized my ability and expertise, approached me to help them run their companies better. They asked for my assistance, unbeknownst to each other, and I said, “Sure, I think I can help you with that.”
Not long after, I recognized that this was something I liked doing, and I knew that I could provide a lot of value to others. Then I began hosting leadership groups.
One of the reasons I bring leaders together in groups is because of something I call the CEO Island. It exists for people that are at the top of organizations.
Often, there is nowhere else leaders can be vulnerable. Nowhere they can share their fears. I create a space where they can share their concerns and apprehensions.
Sometimes group members share their plans. Most can’t share their plans openly, because it’s risky to do that before the plans are fully ready to execute. So I bring groups together and give them a safe place where they can learn from each other.
