3 Important Facets of Leadership

Leadership is 720 degrees

And 360 degree surveys are best used when they expand our understanding of how others perceive us. While on line surveys provide useful information, my clients report the greatest satisfaction when I augment or replace these with my confidential interviews.
The most progressive organizations realize that a 360 degree view is limited. Leadership is 720 degrees. To fully capitalize on your leadership capabilities, request a 720 degree assessment. How do your customers, suppliers, colleagues and community partners assess your brand? Are you highly collaborative and respected for your expertise or are you considered to be demanding and recalcitrant?

Leadership is 24 X 7

Your role as a leader does not end when you depart the office at 6 pm. Your interactions within the community, at social events, when volunteering and while running errands all reflect on who you are. Social media enables complete transparency and has minimized much of our privacy. Integrity is created and sustained through consistent and predictable behaviour. You represent yourself and your company in every interaction. Do you demonstrate your best attributes in every situation?

Leadership at every level

The most esteemed leaders have followership resulting from their influence, not their positional power. It surprises me to see see clients waiting for that next promotion or appointment – to the leadership team, to the executive suite or to the CEO role…before fully donning the cloak of “the leader”. You are a leader today. Do not under-estimate the influence you have on others through your decisions, your actions, your demonstrated judgment and your behaviour. Others are watching and learning from you every day.
